How can you make a difference this Halloween?
Read below to find out!

SAY BOO
TO BULLYING

October is...

National Bullying Prevention Month!

Together, we can educate and raise awareness against bullying and cyberbullying. Take time this month to make a new friend, participate in acts of kindness, or speak up when you see someone being bullied. See Something - Say Something.

DONATE GENTLY
USED COSTUMES

Give Halloween costumes a second life!

Check local thrift stores that give back and watch for local businesses that may hold a costume drop-off and giveaway for those who may not be able to afford new Halloween costumes!

There are several event sponsors with drop-off locations that are currently accepting costume donations September through October!

"YOU'VE BEEN BOOED"
BUCKETS

Pizzazzerie-Free-Printable-Halloween-Tag

The "You've Been Booed" bucket is our favorite Halloween kindness tradition where we secretly drop off treat filled buckets to neighbors, friends, family and strangers!

There is just something fun about leaving a surprise on their doorsteps and watching the fun spread from house to house. It makes Halloween feel a little more magical and brings a little extra joy your neighbors and friends.

BAKED TREATS FOR NEIGHBORS & FRIENDS

Good neighbors are hard to come by!

If you have them... show your appreciation!
Drop off a special home baked good such as oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin bread, etc. to bring a smile to their face!

These little acts of kindness won't be forgotten!

OPT FOR WILDLIFE
FRIENDLY DECOR

Those stretchy, fake spiderwebs might look festive… but for birds and pollinators, they’re a silent trap. Each year, countless songbirds and beneficial insects get caught, struggle, and die in them.

This season, let’s make Halloween scary for the right reasons, not for the innocent wildlife in our yards. Please choose safe décor, and keep the real magic alive.

TEAL PUMPKIN
PROJECT

The Teal Pumpkin Project is a campaign that creates awareness about food allergies while promoting inclusion for all trick-or-treaters.

Houses participating in the campaign simply place a teal pumpkin on their porch to signify they have allergy-free options.

Shop for non-food items that include but are not limited to: toys, glow sticks, stickers,

or other fun trinkets.

TRUNK OR TREAT
FOR A CAUSE

Whether it's spreading awareness, building community connections or raising money for a cause... hosting a trunk in a meaningful trunk or treat event is a great way to celebrate Halloween while supporting various meaningful causes and encouraging your littles to volunteer and give back too!

Two of our favorites include but are not limited to: our local church Trunk or Treat, our wildlife rehab center Trunk or Treat, etc.

KIND NOTES FOR
TRICK OR TREATERS

Handing out kindness cards attached to treats to littles that come knocking on Halloween is a simple gesture that takes seconds, but can put the biggest smile on someone's face!

Raising our kids to be kind and to spread that kindness to others is essential in helping them become the best version of themselves.

REVERSE
TRICK OR TREATING

Reverse trick-or-treating flips the traditional Halloween practice on its head.

Instead of children asking for candy, they bring treats to friends, family, neighbors, etc. This activity promotes the spirit of giving and encourages children to think about others, fostering a sense of community and connection during the Halloween season.

Consider veterans homes, assisted living facilities, group homes and more when reverse trick or treating!

PUMPKINS FOR
WILDLIFE

Every year, millions of pumpkins are thrown away after Halloween, contributing to the staggering amount of food waste that ends up in landfills. Not only does this waste valuable nutrients, but it also produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. By disposing of our pumpkins in a sustainable way, we can reduce waste, support local wildlife and promote a healthier environment.

CANDY FOR TROOPS OVERSEAS

To support troops overseas, you can participate in the Treats for Troops program, where excess Halloween candy is collected and sent to deployed service members and distributed to veterans in VA hospitals. This is a wonderful act of service for littles to participate in to show gratitude!

LEAVE LEAF PILES ALONE

Every autumn, millions of gardeners and homeowners rake, bag, and dispose of fallen leaves, treating them like trash to be hauled away.

But here’s the truth: those leaves are not waste at all – they’re one of the most valuable natural resources your garden could ever ask for.

By leaving leaves on your soil instead of bagging them up, you’re not only saving time and effort but also creating healthier soil, reducing waste, supporting biodiversity and wildlife, while protecting the environment.
