Why are acts of self kindness so important for kids?

Self-kindness is so very important for kids because it helps remind them to feel safe, confident, and valued just as they are. When children learn to be kind to themselves, they’re better able to handle mistakes, big feelings, and challenges without giving up or feeling ashamed. Self-kindness teaches kids that it’s okay to try, fail, and try again, building resilience and healthy self-esteem. It also helps them show more kindness to others, because children who treat themselves with compassion are more likely to spread that same care and understanding to the world around them.

* Give yourself grace
* Enjoy a bubble bath
* Start a gratitude journal
* Go to bed on time: Sleep matters
* Read your favorite book or comic
* Go Outside; Connect with nature
* Remind yourself of happy memories
* Say 3 nice things about yourself out loud
* Repeat positive affirmations in your head
* Write or draw one thing you’re proud of today
* Connect with others and connect with animals
* Start a devotional coloring book and decorate it
* Take a cozy rest break with a blanket or stuffed animal
* Draw or color picture of something that makes you happy
