Keep Wild Birds Safe

Wild birds are vital to healthy ecosystems, acting as pollinators, seed dispersers and natural pest control agents... wild birds are essential for maintaining balanced and diverse ecosystems.

CLEAN YOUR BIRD FEEDERS, PLEASE!

Regularly cleaning your bird feeders is crucial for bird health. To keep your feeders clean and prevent the spread of disease, it is recommended feeders are cleaned every week to two weeks, and more frequently during wet/humid weather or if you see sick birds at your feeder.

Choosing the right cleaning solution is important to ensure that your feathery friends stay safe. It is recommended staying away from harsh chemicals in combination with scratchy sponges, as that could damage the casing and be dangerous if ingested by the birds. If you wish to use a cleaning solution, any commercially available 10% bleach solution should work fine. Don't forget to rinse with clean water after sanitizing.

Moisture can lead to the development of mold, which can make the seeds dangerous to ingest by your feathery visitors, so make sure you dry off your feeder before placing it back on its perch.

Homemade Flower Seed Bombs

Seed Bombs or seed balls, are small clusters packed with

  • Squeeze the water out of the paper and place it in a blender

  • Blend into a pulp-like consistency

  • Squeeze any excess water out of the pulp
